We were recently approached by one of our clients inquiring about live streaming.  She is getting married next year and has a few out of town family and friends who will not be able to make the wedding.

While her wedding video will be produced and finalized a few weeks after the date, there really is no substitute for sharing the moment live.  We are extremely excited to offer this service.  We have contacted a few companies who specialize in this very area and are fully prepared to utilize their skills and expertise in the process.  With the wedding being a year away we are also excited to test out this setup several times before the actual event.  Over the next several months we will begin the process of simulating a live streaming shot and broadcasting via one of our secure servers.  We will take the time to document our experience, log potential issues, and develop a proven protocol.

Our client is fully aware of our current experience and is willing to allow us the time to perfect the process.  Our back up plan is contracting with an experienced service provider if over the course of the next several months we feel we are not comfortable with our ability to provide this on our own.  We are however very confident in our ability to learn.  At the end of the day we are a staff of creative nerds and given the time we have to test, test, test and test some more, this should evolve into a service we provide for years to come.

A couple of weeks ago we had the greatest time with Jennifer and Chad at their wedding. It was planned to be an outdoor ceremony until the rain came pouring in. What Jennifer and Chad decided to do amazed all of us. “Rain? Who cares… we are getting married in the rain!”

It was one of the greatest weddings blue REV media has ever been a part of. Here is a quick excerpt from their ceremony.

The Camera- Sony EX1 HD

We love this camera.  Sony has the highest quality of image sensors available on any video camera on the market.  The stand out feature for this camera is its low light performance.  A lot of our live productions are weddings shot in very low light.  The use of this Sony EX1 HD allows us to eliminate the use of additional lighting.  One of our main objectives in filming a wedding is to not stand out.  The size and sleek design allow your guests to focus on the what’s important and not on the camera crew.  Have I mentioned we own quite a few of these? Yeah. We like them. A lot.

Audio – Audio Technica Pro88w-r35 Wireless Lavalier System

Audio-Technica’s PRO 88W VHF wireless microphone systems are designed for camcorder and other applications requiring a small, easily portable wireless. Equipped with a flexible detachable antenna and a choice of two transmitter and receiver frequencies on each system, the small and inconspicuous VHF wireless system will mount on the light shoe of camcorders or on the back of a camera itself with a Velcro attachment. For fixed installations, a 9V DC input is available on the receiver.

Editing System – Adobe CS5 Master Collection

We are head over heals for the latest Adobe Master Suite collection.  We have always used adobe products as they have proven to be the industry standard in terms of video and web production.  Our videos go through an extensive editing process taking advantage of both Adobe Premier and Adobe After Effects.  We continue to push the limits of this software in order to create the most stunning video work possible.

Accessories - Manfrotto is Where its at!

Manfrotto tripods, monopods, steadycams, boom stands, fig rigs, and so much more.  If they make it, we have used it and used it and used it some more.  Basically these guys rock and their products  line our vans and closets.  Have you ever wondered how professional video is made with out all of the camera shakes and jittery movement?  It’s not because videographers are super human steady beings.  It’s because they have the foresight to utilize the proper equipment to virtually eliminate any unwanted camera movement.

We will continue to update this list as we try and test new products.  Who knows? Maybe one day we will break down and buy a Mac for the office…

There has been a push in the wedding industry to define what we do as video professionals. This video is a great table discussion and a wonderful tool for clients looking to hire a professional to capture their wedding. We take what we do very seriously. Video production is an art and a skill. We feel this video by like minded “creatives” communicates our passion.
